In the rural setting close to 90% of the food prepared and eaten comes from agricultural gardens. This means the higher the season’s harvest, the more nutrients available to the farm family. However the good quantities may not necessarily be reflected in the health and nutritional levels among family members due to literacy levels, poverty and cultural reasons. In Uganda close to 80% of population leave and work in rural areas with agriculture as their main source of food and income yet malnutrition levels are higher in such places. But we can not though disregard the fact than farm families with bigger sizes of land and larger acreages of planted food crops are generally more food and nutritional secure. they can harvest the various crops utilize the animal products from the farm for food and sell off the axcess to get income to buy what was not produced.
