Hi Barza team
I am Petronillah Simwenyi from Kenya. I produce agricultural programs. I have been organizing farmers forums for years and I thank the Farm Radio team for this wonderful e-discussion on income generation.
The funniest advert I saw on television was when it was indicated not to be viewed by youth under 13 when 75% of characters are in the same age group or below!
Hi @wengo
Welcome to Barza! We are happy to have you. It is really funny how media can manipulate. I am sure they know if they say no under 13, the under 13 will be interested in viewing the ad. Can you share what the content of the ad was?

Hi everyone?
The strangest or funniest advert I had over a radio network was a situation where a man in need of land to purchase went to fake land brokers and upon getting to conclude the deal, he paid for the land, the âbrokerâ went somewhere like back office and in a few moments a friend of the âbrokerâ came back with sacks/gunny bags of soil and gave them to the âbuyerâ âŚâŚâŚâŚsaying this is the land!!! !!! You can imagine what went on with the buyer!!! (The funniest thing here isâŚâŚin my language we use the same word for Land and Soil!!!) guys am cracking so hard!!!

Am Kevin Tuheirwe, I work with Voice of Kigezi FM located in Kabale district South Western Uganda, am a news reporter journalist.
The strange advert I heard from a neighboring radio station was about someone advertising for coffins saying that when you buy one for an old person, he will give you a bonus of a small coffin for a baby.
Am glad to be on this platform.
Hi Denis
Thanks for sharing. I canât stop laughing too.
Hello Nyawira
Welcome to Barza!
We are delighted to have you here. I believe we will also learn from what KCOMMNET is doing.
What funny or strange advert have you heard in any of the radio stations you work with?
Hi Kevin @Tuheirwe_Kevin
Welcome to Barza. We believe you will enjoy the ride.
That advert is really strange, it is more like planning the death of a baby as if an older person cannot die alone.

Hello @Busi_Ngcebetsha
The womenâs radio, Mama FM is a community radio owned and managed by an umbrella association of women journalists in Uganda, Uganda Media Womenâs Association (UMWA). The radio handles issues affecting women living in the rural Uganda and semi-urban centers, children and Persons with Disabilities and also men. Our listeners are not only women but also men and at Mama FM we work with men too though managerial positions are held by women in the different departments of the radio.
The radio promotes interactive communication and development. Being a womenâs radio, we are gender sensitive. By amplifying womenâs concerns, this increases their participation in the local and national programs. The radio empowers society to appreciate the issues affecting the least heard and provides a free platform for women to speak up, become leaders in their communities etc.
The radio broadcasts a variety of radio programs including Children, Human rights, Health, Family Life, Persons with Disabilities, Youth, Sports, Agriculture, Wealth Creation, Current Affairs, Public Debates etc.
