HI! JUST JOINING NOW. IMMA IS WHAT I PREFER TO BE CALLED. I’M GLAD TO JOIN THE GROUP…

Welcome Imma, we are delighted to have you. We are starting on the 27 February. See you then!

Hi Blythe, Busi and my colleague Imma there…

Hope you are all fine? I am Sarah Mawerere, I work with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) Radio based in Kampala-Uganda. I handle Agriculture, Gender and Rural Development programmes on UBC Radio. It gives me yet another opportunity to join this platform to learn and share about Interactive Radio. Radio broadcasting is my life-line: I do broadcasting with passion. Suffice to say; Interactive Radio is a topic i am yearning to learn about. Anything innovative about Radio; i always use the opportunity to learn. So interactive Radio platform is another opportunity for me to learn as well as share the little knowledge i have on the subject.

I hope to learn a lot, meet colleagues and share about Interactive Radio. Awaiting the opportune time for me to be on the platform.

I am popularly known as Sarah and it is the name i would prefer to be called on this platform.

All the best as we wait to hear from one another.

Regards,

Sarah Mawerere

Hi Sarah!

That’s great you’re joining in this discussion. I’m looking forward to it too.

Did you do anything special to celebrate World Radio Day yesterday? At Farm Radio International we conducted a phone poll. We called many of our broadcasting partners to ask them a few questions about radio and also recorded messages about what radio means to them. Did you get a phone call from us about this? You can see the results here: https://wrd.uliza.fm/

If you click on the moving circles you can listen to what different people said. You can also select by country by clicking on the country button in the bottom right.

All the best,
Blythe

This is great. Looking forward to a beautiful interraction

Welcome Sarah and Bashir

We are happy to have you joining us. Looking forward to working with you.

Cheers

Dear Blythe. Oh yes, i received a phone call from Farm Radio International to share about World Radio Day.

Although it ended prematurely, i was asking my colleagues if they were aware of the Day. Honestly, a big number of them did not know about it. I sent them some resources to read about the Day. They were excited though to hear about it. I would like to ask for more innovative ideas to popularize the Day…may be each country that hosts Farm Radio to have press conferences, radio shows and media discourses to make the day known to all broadcasters. In Uganda believe me it would catch up.

Thank you.

Many thanks to every body, my name is Alex Wandeba a journalist and broadcaster working with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation ( UBC Radio ) Newsroom as a News Reporter, Producer and Presenter of the popular daily radio news margazine ‘The News Hour Program.’
This is not my first time though on the barza discussions; last year I fully participated in the " Barza Agriculture and Climate Change. "
But just to let you know Uganda has experienced a prolonged and severe drought resulting into food shortages, shortage of pasture and shortage of water. Some streams have since dried up, and this according to available information is due to climate change.
However early rains are projected between mid March and early April.
I look forward for fruitful discussions.
Alex Wandeba

@pbaka @Wandeba welcome!
