My name is Seidu Kwaku Latif Nathaniel with Ghana broadcasting corporation, Krachi Radio. The morning show host and Host for Farm Radio program dubed" Akuafo mmere" (farmers time). Am happy to be part of this discussion to learn more about Climate change, the effects and how to adapt in it.
My name is Musa Tijjani Ahmad from Kano State Nigeria. I am working with Liberty TV and Radio 103.3FM Kano. I am interested in the effects of climate change on livestock farming.
Three things I would pick in case of such impending disaster are as follows:
-
Food Supply; food is critical for everyone’s survival. So I will pick as much food as possible before the disaster strike since there has been early warning issued.
-
Source of Information: My Radio is so dear to me. So I will carry my Radio set with adequate battery so I can track the disaster as it unfolds. In case I have access to the Internet, I will also carry some data with me so I can share my conditions, locations with the world. This will help in making distress call for help to come.
-
Thirdly, I will pick adequate warm clothes, beddings and cash. This will prove critical as conditions where I am taking refuge might also change. In the event that I will need to relocate, I should have enough cash on me.
Disasters that have been warned are easy to cope with compared to those which strike un- announced. And I pick them on assumptions that I am not a journalist but an ordinary farmer. Safety first.
Thank you very much.
Karibu sana. Most welcome.
I look forward to learning more from Nigeria.

It is normal expectations for Governments to support courses but these phenomena do not work in Africa, so what left is sacrifice from everyone in this emergency of threat from climate change. We have to use every mean available to us to help curb this menace. Research and technology could be the surest way of addressing this, but need funding to do that, our foreign investors or development partners such as USAID, UKAID and others seem to support campaigns on the issues than giving the needed scientific tools to tackle the issues. Awareness creation is key but the final resort are pragmatic measures put in place to deal the issues.
